"If you want something you've never had, then you have to do something you've never done."

- Thomas Jefferson

Amanda George MA, RP (Qualifying)

Hello and welcome.

What comes to mind when you think of change?

For some, it ebbs and flows like the tide on a calm summer day. At other times it may feel like you're rolling a large snowball ....uphill ....backwards ....with your eyes closed. We all struggle with that snowball at some point in our lives.

If you've reached that point, and you're visiting this site, you may be wondering if talking to someone might help.

What does change look like for you?

Quieting those parts of you that feel anxious or depressed?

Learning ways to handle emotions related to loss or childhood trauma?

Managing your feelings of anger better?

Understanding and sharing your lived experiences of race and culture in a judgement-free space?

How therapy might help

Psychotherapy can be helpful when people are ready to make changes to the way they see themselves, others, and the future. Change can then be an opportunity for you to heal your past or present and move forward in the process. As your counsellor, I will support you in understanding and shifting the blocks that are interfering with your health and happiness. Benefits of therapy may include learning how to:

REGULATE your emotions

CONNECT with your values, inner strengths and resources

COPE more effectively with stressful situations

(RE)CONNECT with others in a way you'd like, and

RESTORE hope and meaning to your life

If you are experiencing financial difficulties, I offer a limited number of sliding scale fee spots through my partnership with Open Path Psychotherapy Collective. Feel free to reach out for more information.
