The Grief Corps - support for COVID-19 bereaved

May 25, 2020

I have joined a volunteer-driven resource created by Derek Scott, Founder of IFSCA, Certified IFS Therapist and Social Worker (www.IFSCA.ca). The Grief Corps is a Canadian initiative that will be available for free to any resident of Canada who has lost someone to COVID-19. All of the resources on the site, however, are available to anyone that may wish to make use of them. These short-term Online Bereavement Support Groups are meant to help cope with the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Change and growth in the age of COVID-19

For the first couple of weeks, sheltering-in-place seemed a respite from balancing the demands between outside work and home life. And while we collectively understand the necessity to protect the health of all, the novelty of being at home may be wearing thin. The effect of physical or social distancing on our daily lives is now being felt. In a recent article, psychologist Steven Hayes shares how enforced time at home affects our mental well-being, and highlights how this unusual time in our lives can be an opportunity for us to do what we do best - adapt and grow. Dr. Hayes offers five suggestions to address the 'homebound' dilemma. You can read his article here.

"Calm" resources

March 25, 2020

Those familiar with the Calm app know that it offers a variety of wellness tools, some of which can only be accessed through a paid subscription. Calm is now providing a free resource page with meditations, sleep stories, music and more to help support your mental wellness in these uncertain times. They have also included resources that are suitable for children. Click here to access the page.
